Crumbongo Privacy Policy

Overview

Crumbongo is a local-first Chrome extension and game. After you authorize access to a site, Crumbongo can count the accessible cookie records Chrome returns for that site. It converts that count into local game currency for the in-game Cookie Jar.

Crumbongo uses this access only to provide the user-facing harvesting and gameplay features described in this policy. It does not use browser data for advertising, profiling, analytics, tracking, or any unrelated purpose.

What is accessed and why

Data accessed: accessible cookie records returned by Chrome for the current authorized site.
Purpose: only the number of returned records is used to calculate local gameplay rewards.
Data not used: Crumbongo does not access or use the name or value fields of the cookie records returned by Chrome. It uses only the number of records returned.
Data not retained or shared: cookie names, values, and records are never displayed, persisted, logged, sold, or transmitted.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received through Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Crumbongo uses this information only to provide the user-facing gameplay functionality described in this policy.

Browser permissions

Crumbongo uses Chrome’s activeTab, cookies, and storage permissions. It declares optional host access for http://*/* and https://*/*; these patterns make sites eligible for a permission request but do not grant access by themselves.

By default, Crumbongo requests access one site at a time after you explicitly choose CHECK THIS SITE for the active website. A site you previously approved may be counted when you reopen Crumbongo while Chrome retains that exact-site permission. You may independently change Crumbongo’s site access through Chrome’s extension settings. Crumbongo follows the browser-managed permissions you choose there.

Crumbongo does not harvest in the background. You must open the extension and explicitly choose to harvest before a cookie count is converted into local game currency.

Once access is available, Crumbongo calls Chrome’s cookies API for the current site and uses only the number of records returned. This is a count of accessible cookies returned by Chrome, not necessarily every cookie a website may use.

Crumbongo does not access or use the name or value fields of the cookie records returned by Chrome. It uses only the number of records returned.
Cookie names and values are never displayed, persisted, logged, or transmitted.
Crumbongo never modifies browser cookies.
Crumbongo never deletes browser cookies.

Local game data

Game data is stored locally through Chrome extension storage. Depending on your activity, this can include:

Cookie Jar balance and lifetime cookie count;
harvest totals and progression derived from lifetime cookies;
owned and equipped cosmetics;
interface preferences and feeding state;
Monkey Climb runs played and tree clears; and
your best Monkey Climb banana score.

This information stays in Chrome extension storage on your device. It is not sent to or synced with a Crumbongo account, external backend, or gameplay server.

Session anti-farming data

During the current browser session, Crumbongo stores a hashed identifier for an authorized site together with the highest cookie count already rewarded for that site. This local session data prevents the same count from being harvested repeatedly.

The hash is a local identifier, not a claim of cryptographic anonymity. Raw origins and domain names are not stored in this map. The map is not maintained as a persistent browsing-history database and is not transmitted.

No account, backend, or analytics

Crumbongo has:

no Crumbongo account system;
no Crumbongo backend or server storing game progress;
no analytics SDK;
no advertising SDK;
no telemetry system;
no behavioral tracking; and
no sale of user data.

Browsing information

Crumbongo does not persist visited sites as user browsing history and does not maintain a server-side record of visited websites. The session-only anti-farming identifiers described above are not a readable or persistent browsing-history list.

Cookie names, cookie values, browsing information, and gameplay data are not transmitted to a Crumbongo backend. Crumbongo has no external backend for gameplay data.

This website

The Crumbongo website does not set analytics or tracking cookies, fingerprint visitors, load analytics scripts, or embed third-party tracking resources. It uses no remote fonts or remote scripts.

Children’s privacy

Crumbongo does not knowingly collect personal information.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if Crumbongo’s functionality or data handling changes. The “Last updated” date above will identify the current version.
